Add 5 Daily Drops to Lift Your Quality of Life

Updated: May 22

Like a stalagmite and the stalactite one drop makes all the difference. The steady drip, drip, drip of water on the now forming cone on the ground can be an analogy, that if applied to your life, will raise the quality and create consistency.

There is power in the everyday drops that you bring into your life.

It is the simple, small, and consistent things that are going to make the biggest impacts in your life. You will find that a little bit of something each day will either build or diminish you.

I invite you to take a moment and think, is there something in my life that adds a lot of value to my life that I want to keep doing? And is there something that is slowly chipping away at me that I need to stop?

You will find that you have the insight to really direct your life a few steps at a time and over the next few days and even over the next week, watch how your daily small and consistent decisions and choices shape your day. You’ll be surprised at how much has changed.

#1: Add Light:

Ways you can add light to your life:

  • Seeking to connect, praise, worship, and pray with God is a way that you can personally, diligently, and intentionally.

  • A practice of gratitude and counting your blessings

  • Sharing love, either to yourself and/or others

#2 Add Learning:

Questions to ponder:

  • Where do you find inspiration?

  • What do you find edifying?

When I think of learning I think of the sword of Gryffindor: I only take in that which will make me stronger.

Think about the drops of learning that you add to your day.

Ways to Add Quality Learning to Your Life:

  • How you ponder, prepare, organize, connect, adjust

  • TED talks

  • Articles

  • Quotes

  • Books

  • Seminars

  • Engaging in a conversation with someone

  • Interviews

#3 Add Goals:

Setting goals can be triggering for some and essential to others.

If you are beginning your journey with goals, start small:

  • What can I do today that will help me become more of who I want to be in _______.

  • Think about where you want to be by the end of the day: What is ONE thing that will help support you in reaching that vision.

  • At the end of the day evaluate how you did, then celebrate that you started!

#4 Add Joy:

Seek to find the joy in the here and now.

Many may know about Marie Kondo and her question, “Does it spark joy?” This is powerful. Translating it into everyday life is the moments that you feel are made just for you and acknowledging them.

There was a time when I was just moving back to a city, I had already lived in. It was rough and I was questioning my decision the whole time I was moving. Then there was a moment when I looked at the sky and the sunset.

The colors were magnificent, the clouds were fluffy and perfectly placed over the landscape. I knew that all of it was for me. God knows me and He had orchestrated those clouds and sunset because He knew I would need the extra measure of peace to accompany my decision.

There are specific things that are meant just for you. They will spark joy, take note of them literally or in your heart and you will find an increase of joy in your life.

#5 Add connection:

The foundation of all that humanity does is based on relationships- how we connect with others.

Take time to connect with the people that matter to you.

Take time to connect with yourself and to do maintenance.

Maintenance means quality time that builds you as a person and that adds stability to your life. Seek to know yourself well enough to be able to know when you need to heal and to support yourself.

You will naturally be able to do the same with others in your life and meet them where they are because you can see them and love them openly.

Time to Start:

It is the simple, small, and consistent things that are going to make the biggest impacts in your life. You will find that a little bit of something each day will either build or diminish you.

I invite you to take a moment and think, is there something in my life that adds a lot of value to my life that I want to keep doing? And is there something that is slowly chipping away at me that I need to stop?

You will find that you have the insight to really direct your life a few steps at a time and over the next few days and even over the next week, watch how your daily small and consistent decisions and choices shape your day. You’ll be surprised at how much has changed.
